31 Jan: FAQ: Formspring Asked Questions

I realise I haven't really written about my life in university since I never really thought it'd be of interest to anyone. Well, I guess I was wrong because I received a question from an anon on Formspring this past week.

Hey stumbled across yr website, just wanna ask how tough did you find studying at UQ? Also, why didn't you stay and work in Aus? Tks!

Uni was a completely new experience - it was research based whereas my previous education in Ngee Ann Poly was not. Even though there were times I felt like dying due to the lack of sleep (i.e. being awake for 48 hours), I didn't find it exceedingly difficult as long as I knew what was required in the assignments. One particular course was terrible though, the lecturer was overly demanding and unhelpful, so that affected one of my grades quite a bit. Most lecturers were great though, they usually like it when students are proactive and put in more effort than expected. On a scale of 1-5 on how tough it was, I'd say it was a 3.5.

Although staying in Australia for two years was pretty cool, I can't imagine myself staying on for longer - mainly because I'd really miss my family and friends here in Singapore and I generally feel safer here. Plus, it would've been hard to look for a job with my degree in Australia - they aren't lacking in arts graduates! Otherwise, working in aus would've been awesome, the work-life balance there is fantastic.

Hope that answers your questions~!

I'd just like to add that there's a lot more behind my decision to stay in Singapore, but isn't it better that you don't know everything about me already?
